Pongal is celebrated all over tamilnadu. It is the festival for man, land and amimal those that play an
Important part in the harvest
       The start of the new month ( thai) marks the birth of a new way
      as they say in tamil Thai piranthal Valai Pirakum

                                                       Past and pains to ashes be burnt
                                                       to those that toil the land
                                                       Drops of sweat bloom to harvest
                                                       Reaped with joy savoured in rest

                                                       pots filled with milk and rice
                                                       awaits the warmth of the sun to rise
                                                       sugar canes make the days  sweet
                                                       women paint art in the street
                                                      Decorated cattles and traditional games
                                                      the joy in pot boiling in flames
                                                       A new dawn in the years to come
                                                       welcomed by beats of the traditional drum

  4. Hi Pety,I saw painted cows. So amazing. at the first sight I was stunned to find cows with purple horns and yellow spots … One place we saw a lot of pure white cows with huge horns painted with golden colour. It was astounding 🙂
