15th August
A day in our nations calendar
celebrated with might and splendour
a flag to fly to mark a day
freedom doth end in the words of the leaders to say

freedom to a nation got
yet to be sold in measured lot
freedom for the poor a memory lost
to the rich freedom a holiday cost

where the government formed to serve
the leaders choose their own to deserve
wasted sweat of citizens in a bank
spoils of freedom without a note to thank

The chains of corrupt doth not end
the flag of freedom never to mend
prisoners to bribe the poor live
the gains of freedom to them a bribe to give

to them the flag to hoist
eyes in sorrows tear moist
freedoms an unbroken chain
when doth a day come to ease tis pain
